Walking Wild

Introduction

Professional guided walking safaris with all nights spent camping out under the stars. Guests will experience the diversity of flora and fauna, get an insight into Maasai culture, learn tracking techniques and bush skills, and understand the behaviour of insects and animals.

Location

Walking Wild is a walking safari experience through some of Kenya’s best viewing habitats – Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and two Maasai Community Conservation areas, Il N’gwesi and Lekurruki. These 3 areas provide some of the most stunning landscapes in Africa and are home to a wide variety of game including the ‘Big Five’, over 420 species of birds, reticulated giraffe, cheetah, and endangered species such as Grevy’s Zebra and sitatunga.

Description

Walking Wild provides 3 to 5 day safaris for no more than 8 guests per trip. Most travelling takes place in the early morning, allowing guests to rest over lunch, during the heat of the day. Camels are available to ride when the terrain allows.

Accommodation and Facilities: Fly tents with bed rolls and safari style washrooms with bucket showers are set up in picturesque locations (usually close to a river or stream).

Hosted by: Adventurers are hosted by experienced guides and local Maasai warriors.

Seasons: Walking Wild is closed in April, May and November.

Access: By schedule flight from Nairobi, or by private charter to Lewa Downs, or by road via Nanyuki.
