Saruni Samburu

Location

Saruni Samburu is a small ‘design’ lodge located 7km away from the border with north of Samburu National Reserve, in Kenya’s wild north. With 16 beds in 5 large villas, the lodge is  located on the top of a mountain inside Kalama Wildlife Conservancy, in the middle of a 220,000 acres conservancy.

Description

Surrounded by 95,000 hectares of private wildlife conservancy, and perched on top of a spectacular viewpoint, Saruni Samburu overlooks several waterholes where the famous Samburu elephant, leopard, reticulated giraffe, Oryx and Grevy’s zebra gather to drink. The vastness and purity of this African landscape, combined with the untouched local culture, make your safari a unique experience. As well as our game drives that include Samburu National Reserve, Buffalo Springs National Reserve and West Gate Conservancy, the traditions and semi-nomadic heritage of the local Samburu people are an important part of the experience.

Accommodation/Facilities

Saruni Samburu has five large villas, each with private dining and sitting areas, and a common area called Kudu House. The total number of guests is 16. A swimming pool, a wellbeing space, a shop and a stars gazing area complete the structure of the lodge.

Experience Laikipia

Experience LaikipiaLaikipia, lying on the thresholds of Kenya’s wild Northern rangelands stretches from the slopes of Mt Kenya to the rim of the Great Rift Valley and is larger than all of Kenya’s national parks and reserves except Tsavo. Its magnificent escarpments descend into the arid lands and semi deserts of Northern Kenya. A sanctuary for over 80 mammal species including black rhino, elephant, lion, leopard, Grevy Zebra, reticulated giraffe, aardwolf, wild dog and a wealth of African game, Laikipia biodiversity is globally unique.
