Kicheche Laikipia Camp
Location
Kicheche Laikipia Camp is a small luxurious tented camp, nestled at the foot of indigenous forest overlooking a waterhole, in the centre of the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is 90,000 acres of wilderness and offers an incredibly uncrowded environment to enjoy quality game viewing.
Description
Our intimate camp offers a wonderful relaxed atmosphere enhanced by our resident hosts Andy & Sonja. The luxury tents overlook our waterhole and game activities are centered around the prolific southern sector of the Conservancy.
Accommodation/Facilities: The camp consists of six luxurious tents. The tents are custom designed and are fully insect-proof with en-suite bathrooms equipped with a dresser, flushing toilet and hot showers. There are comfortable chairs on each verandah overlooking the waterhole. One tent can be converted into a triple on request. There is a spacious well furnished lounge and dining tent, although we prefer to eat alfresco if weather permits.
Hosted by: Guests are hosted by the inimitable Andy and Sonja Webb.
Activities:
- We offer a full selection of game-viewing activities including Day Game Drives, Night Game Drives and Interpretative Game Walks. There is also a Lion Tracking program which monitors the lions of the area (some have been collared with receivers). In addition, the Wildlife Educational Centre is interesting for both children and adults alike, and the Chimpanzee Sanctuary for orphaned chimps is an excellent venue to observe two families and learn about the perils facing chimpanzees in the wild.
Optional Extras: A safari Horse Riding excursion is one of the best experiences for those brave and capable of manning a horse in the wilderness – subject to availability.
Seasons: Kicheche Laikipia Camp closes annually 01 April-31 May and November (dates variable)
Access: Air Kenya and Safarilink daily schedule flights to Nanyuki, followed by a 40 minute road transfer. Or private charter with Tropic Air based in Nanyuki. By road from Nairobi takes approx 4 hours.

Laikipia, lying on the thresholds of Kenya’s wild Northern rangelands stretches from the slopes of Mt Kenya to the rim of the Great Rift Valley and is larger than all of Kenya’s national parks and reserves except Tsavo. Its magnificent escarpments descend into the arid lands and semi deserts of Northern Kenya. A sanctuary for over 80 mammal species including black rhino, elephant, lion, leopard, Grevy Zebra, reticulated giraffe, aardwolf, wild dog and a wealth of African game, Laikipia biodiversity is globally unique.
