Located on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River on Koija group ranch is where this dream camp emerges - nestled in an oasis, in a spectacular setting beneath a grove of palms and centenary fig trees. Majestic landscapes, proud pastoral nomads and wildlife live in harmony.

Description

Run by Samburu and Maasai tribesmen, Lemati's Camp offers an authentic experience; talented guides specialised in local knowledge, delicious food, and the simple elegance of the camp’s aesthetics. To walk beside proud nomads in their environment is to be reminded of the harsh beauty of untamed Africa and the simplicity of life – a truly magical experience.

Accommodation/Facilities: The camp has 5 spacious and stylish safari tents built on platforms with en suite bathrooms open to the skies. Each tent can accommodate a family of 5 or 6 family members, or friends who are prepared to share. A large mess tent is the communal living area where most meals are served.

Hosted by: Lemarti and Boniface - Samburu and Laikpiak Maasai who strongly believe in their cultures and rituals. They men have huge charisma and are the greatest of friends. Both have years of experience in hosting guests and conducting walking safari’s.

Activities:

  • Visit 60,000 acres of wildlife conservancy held in trust for research. Game drives, guided walks, camel treks, cultural visits, mountain biking, sundowners, picnics, dining under the stars, high altitude running, bird watching, visit the local community and partake in ceremonies and activities such as honey harvesting. Visit the local market. Massages and other treatments, swimming in the river, fishing and much more spontaneous fun.

Optional Extras: Nomadic and star gazing camps, beauty therapy / Spa treatments, helicopter trips, exclusive visit to adjoining wildlife conservancy held in Trust for research.

Seasons: Open all year round.

Access:

  • By road is a 3 hours drive form Nanyuki through beautiful landscapes, for those who want an adventure.
  • By air there are daily scheduled flights from Nairobi to the Loisaba airstrip, followed by a 1.5 hour journey to the camp, or a private charter to Lendile airstrip which is only 45 mins away. Finally - the most comfortable and spectacular arrival by chopper.
